Amazon Echo, which you will address as Echo or Alexa, is a voice activated command system, attached to a speaker, or a speaker attached to a voice activated command system, which is always connected to the internet to find out things that you want it to find.
It also has its array of speakers inside, which has very superior quality of sound and effects. Echo connects to your phone and lap top via blue tooth.
Additionally if you have lights and fans in your houses, or any other devices, which have WiFi connectivity, then Alexa (lets call her Alexa, which is the name of the Echo device) will also control those devices with voice commands.
Alexa is the look and feel of things to come to make us sit in our beds and chairs and increase risk of life style diseases due to non movement of limbs and spirits. But at the same time this is a fantastic innovation for the people who are immobile and have difficulties with movements.
But Alexa is the primitive in comparisn of what is going to come within the next few years, including driver less cars. This is the beginning of Artificial Intelligence in use for mankind.
At this stage Alexa Echo has lots of fun and convenience. But it still has some very bad commercial attitude. First the good ones:

Similarly, if you are an Amazon Prime member, you will not be able to cast your Amazon Prime videos/Movies directly on your TV through Goggles Chrome Cast. To do that, you will have to buy Amazon's Fire stick to cast Amazon Prime Video on your TV. So what you do is to start Google Home on your phone and then run Amazon Prime Video to watch it on your TV.
These are punishments given to the customers for buying this or for not buying that.
Amazon and Google, for you this is a war. But for us, the customers, this is inconvenient which does not give us the freedom to choose our own device. We will give more respect to you if you stop behaving like kids and let us have our own way of entertainment.
Listen to what all of us are talking. Otherwise, someone will come out with something which will destroy the market for both of you. The we will just laugh at both of you.

- It will tell you about the weather
- It will remind you of your task
- You will be able to start a timer, set an alarm
- It will also pull out things from the Wikipedia and read it to you.
- Alexa also speaks funny things and will not take any nonsense command and will respond with "I don't know"
NOW, the silly things:
- Alexa will not connect to or play anything from You Tube or any other Google product
- You Tube is the largest of all all libraries for everything and anything. Alexa Echo avoid this fantastic Google product because Alexa Echo is a device built and marketed by Amazon and there is no love lost between Amazon and Google. They are like fighting couple just before the divorce. And the victim of this divorce is us, the general customers. Google and Amazon do not support each others products and services.
- So you have to run YouTube on your phone, or lap top and then connect to Alexa Echo through Blu Tooth, draining your phone battery and making your phone almost unusable during the time you keep YouTube running.
- And Amazon Alexa Echo have silly choices of music collection in in its Amazon Library, in comparison to what YouTube has. So you have to limit your choices and there are so many repeat songs that Alexa Echo will play just because it does not have a good collection.
